From innovative idea to global markets

In the first half of the nineteen nineties, two designers, Bartolomej Janek and Tibor Fecko, invented and built a unique high-precision reduction gear. The motivation for its development was to eliminate operational deficiencies of industrial robots. In 1997, the first production plant was built on a green field in Prešov, Slovakia. Since it was a new product, the company’s priority was to set up optimal technological processes and also to win the trust of future customers. Through intensive development and sales activities, in the course of several years, SPINEA, s.r.o. started to succeed among other manufacturers of high-precision reduction gears. From 2000, when serial production started, the sales volume grew systematically as a result of securing the first major contract from KUKA.

This growth attracted repeated investments, which resulted in the opening of a second production plant in Prešov in 2007. Further extensive investments, made between 2012 and 2014, brought expansion, with a new production hall and the purchase of additional modern technologies, with the objective to significantly increase the annual production capacity.

In 2018 the new plant in Haniska near Prešov started to take form. The new plant was opened in June 2019. There are all the officces together with the top management situated.

Our patent lawyer says that a patent is a global one when it helps employ a lot of people, sells products around the world, no objections were raised against it in the patent procedure, and the inventor has a lot of ill-wishers. That suspiciously corresponds with the story of our invention.

Ing. Bartolomej Janek, CSc.

Unique solutions, international success

The products of the company are suitable for applications, which require high reduction gear ratio, high kinematic precision, zero backlash motion, high torque capacity, high rigidity, compact design in a limited installation space, as well as low weight. They are widely used in automation and industrial robotics, in the field of machine tools manufacturing, in navigation and camera equipment, medical systems and many other fields.

SPINEA enjoys the membership of international robotics associations, such as the International Federation of Robotics, EU Robotics as well as the German Engineering Federation - VDMA.

Satisfied customers and visions

Major customers of the company include, in particular, the manufacturers of industrial robots such as KUKA, ABB, Comau, and RRRobotica, manufacturers of machine tools such as DMG Mori, Trumpf, and Doosan Infracore, the packaging equipment manufacturer Tetrapak, and the specialist in glass grinding Swarowski. Besides the mentioned applications, the TwinSpin® reduction gears are also used in industrial automation, radar and navigation equipment, camera and monitoring systems, medical equipment. Thanks to their precision and reliability, the TwinSpin® reduction gears are also used in the atomic particle accelerator project at CERN in Switzerland. In the future, SPINEA wants to strongly support the development of its own R&D base, through which it secures further innovation and development of new products. These will then fulfill their mission reliably and precisely in any field of operation.
